Our Commitment to Quality & Compliance
Every product leaving our Yogyakarta workshop is held to rigorous quality standards before it reaches international buyers. This page outlines the certifications, testing protocols, and compliance documentation available to our wholesale partners.
Export Compliance Documentation
- Phytosanitary Certificate — issued by Indonesia’s National Plant Protection Organisation (NPPO / BKIPM) for all rattan, seagrass, and natural fiber shipments. Required by DAFF Australia, USDA APHIS, and EU border agencies.
- Certificate of Origin (CO) — issued by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN), confirming Indonesian origin. Applicable to preferential trade agreements including ASEAN-Australia-NZ FTA, ASEAN-EU CEPA (in progress), and Indonesia-US GSP.
- Fumigation Certificate — available upon request for shipments to markets requiring treatment certification (Australia, New Zealand, China).
- Lacey Act Declaration (PPQ 505) — provided with all US-bound shipments, declaring plant species, country of harvest, and quantity.
- EUDR Due Diligence Documentation — available for EU importers under the EU Deforestation Regulation. Includes supply chain traceability records and geo-location data for sourcing areas.
Product Quality Standards
- Material inspection — all raw rattan, seagrass, and natural fiber materials are inspected for moisture content, structural integrity, and freedom from pests before production begins.
- In-process quality checks — weave density, dimensional tolerances, and structural strength are verified at key production milestones.
- Pre-shipment inspection (PSI) — a full PSI is conducted on every order before packing, covering quantity, appearance, dimensions, and packaging integrity.
- Third-party inspection — we support buyer-appointed third-party inspection by agencies such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, or Intertek. Please notify us at the time of order to schedule access.
Material Traceability
Our natural fiber materials — rattan, seagrass, water hyacinth, and banana fiber — are sourced from suppliers within Java, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan. We maintain supplier records covering:
- Supplier name and location
- Species identification and harvest origin
- Volume purchased per order
- Relevant permits or harvest authorisations
Full traceability documentation is available to buyers upon request and forms the basis of our EUDR due diligence statement. For a detailed overview of our sourcing practices, artisan welfare standards, and how we support buyers’ sustainability reporting, see our guide to our sustainable supply chain.
Testing Available on Request
The following product testing can be arranged through accredited Indonesian or international laboratories for buyers requiring formal test reports:
- Load-bearing and structural strength testing
- Colorfastness testing (for dyed or lacquered products)
- Heavy metals / restricted substances screening (REACH, California Prop 65)
- Moisture content analysis
Testing costs are passed on to the buyer at cost. Please enquire at the time of order.
