Water Hyacinth & Agel Pendant Lamp Shade (Round) is a round, bulb-shaped shade that combines two fibers in one enclosed weave — Water Hyacinth for the bulk of the surface, Agel palm fiber worked through for a subtly different texture and a faint natural sheen where the light catches it.
Agel comes from the leaf of the Corypha utan palm, gathered by hand rather than farmed — it’s a slower, more selective harvest than water hyacinth, which is one reason it tends to read as the more refined material of the two when they’re paired. Here it’s not the star; it’s the accent that keeps a fully water-hyacinth shade from looking flat.
Unlike our open-lattice designs, this shade uses a tight, fully enclosed weave. Almost no light escapes through gaps — instead it glows evenly through the fiber itself, which is why it suits a bedroom or reading corner better than a dining table that needs a wider spread.
