Custom and private label production is one of the most valuable services we offer to wholesale buyers, brand owners, and interior design practices. Rather than selecting from a fixed catalogue, buyers who engage our OEM programme can develop basket and lamp shade products that are exclusive to their brand — in dimensions, materials, finishes, labels, and packaging that no off-the-shelf supplier can match.
This article walks through how our OEM process works, from initial brief to shipment. For a summary of pricing, minimums, and material options, see our Private Label & OEM page.
The process begins with a conversation. We ask buyers to share as much context as possible: the end use of the product, the retail environment it will be sold in, target price points, desired dimensions, material preferences, and any reference images of aesthetics they are working towards. Buyers do not need to provide technical drawings or construction specifications — our design team can work from photographs, mood boards, sketches, or verbal descriptions. The more context you provide, the more accurately our first prototype will reflect your vision.
Once we understand the brief, we provide a written quotation covering unit price (FOB Semarang), minimum order quantity, sample cost, and estimated production lead time. For standard forms adapted from our existing range, quotations are typically returned within three to five business days. For entirely novel constructions, we may require a short technical assessment period before quoting. Sample costs are invoiced separately from production orders and are fully deductible against the first production order placed.
Upon quotation acceptance, we move to sample production. Our artisans produce one to three samples of the agreed design using the specified materials and finishing technique. Sample lead time is typically 10–14 working days from confirmation. Samples are shipped via international express courier (DHL or FedEx). We recommend buyers review samples physically before confirming production, as natural fiber products have tactile and structural qualities that do not translate fully to photography. For guidance on requesting samples, see our Sample Ordering Guide.
Buyers review the samples against their brief and provide feedback. If adjustments are needed — dimensions, weave density, finish colour, hardware details — we incorporate these into a revised sample. Most custom projects reach production approval within one to two sample rounds. Complex or technically novel designs may require three rounds. Once the production sample is approved and signed off by the buyer, we issue a formal production order confirmation.
Standard production lead time is 45 to 60 days from order confirmation, depending on order volume and current capacity. For orders above 2,000 pieces, we recommend buyers confirm capacity with us four to six weeks in advance of their planned order date, as peak periods (January–March and August–October) can be subject to longer lead times. During production, we conduct quality control checks at three stages: raw material inspection, in-progress weave quality check, and pre-shipment final inspection. Buyers may appoint a third-party inspector to conduct their own pre-shipment inspection; we facilitate this at no additional cost.
Upon production completion and final quality approval, we prepare the full export documentation package and coordinate container loading at our facility in Yogyakarta. Cargo is transported to Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang, for vessel loading. Standard documentation includes Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, Phytosanitary Certificate, and — where required — Fumigation Certificate, Lacey Act Declaration, and EUDR Due Diligence Statement. A full breakdown of our export documentation is available on our Shipping & FOB Guide.
Custom OEM production is available from 200 pieces per SKU for most basket forms. Lamp shade and wall decor OEM programmes carry a minimum of 100 pieces per SKU. Lower minimums may be available for established repeat buyers — please enquire. All pricing is quoted FOB Semarang (Tanjung Emas).
