Stage 1
Frame construction
Lamp shade production at Eco Bhavana starts with frame construction. Rattan and bamboo frames are shaped using steam-bending and dry-jigging techniques developed over 15 years of pendant lamp production. Frame components are sanded, dried, and inspected before weaving begins.
Stage 2
Hand weaving
Weaving is done entirely by hand by our artisan workforce in Sleman and Klaten. For complex geometric cage styles, the frame and weave are constructed simultaneously by experienced frame weavers. For surface-woven shades (seagrass, water hyacinth, pandanus), the pre-formed frame is hand-woven in sections and assembled.
Stage 3
Quality check and inspection
Finished shades go through a three-stage quality check: structural integrity (frame rigidity, joint security), surface finish (consistency of weave tension, absence of loose ends or surface damage), and dimensional check (diameter and height within ±5 mm tolerance).
